What happens on Jan 1, 2009
It says we have free access until the end of 2008. Can you tell me if I can continue using this site, and how much will it cost?
Thanks, Susan

Susan,
Sorry we took so long to respond to this question. I am sure it is one that many teachers will have. The folks at TeachersFirst and TRintuition have been talking about the best ways to promote this community, and ultimately support LEARNING for both the teachers and the students involved in this project.
After January 1, 2009, any Building Learners Project member’s completed work (i.e. “projects” they or their students have completed and shared via URL) will remain available online indefinitely and at no cost. The ability to continue to work, edit, create, manage groups, etc. will require a subscription, but BLP members have some “rewards” available. Keep reading:
1. BLP members in good standing will receive a DISCOUNT as a thank you for their participation as charter members in this project. The actual “list” prices will be posted on TR-intution’s site shortly.
2. Here is the GOOD ONE! There will be ways for active BLP participants to obtain premium subscrition scholarships, based on their project results and participation, whether the projects are created by students or teacher. We will share a post shortly on what we are “looking for.” In other words, if you and your students do good work and participate actively, you could “earn” ongoing membership in the BLP community for FREE. Watch for our criteria soon.
We really want to set an example as a cooperative community of developer, teacher resource site, teachers, and students. In working with TRintuition and TeachersFirst, you are working together with experienced, creative teachers who want nothing more than to BUILD learners, including ourselves and other teachers. The people at both TRintution and TeachersFirst have been in your shoes and know the realities of your classroom.
We are in this together as a community. Think of BLP as a barn-raising for learning.
Candace, thanks for the reply… It sounds interesting and I will look forward to finding out more information. You’ve got me hooked.
Susan
