How to use this blog

This blog is a safe place to learn, share, and make mistakes.

All members of the Building Learners Project have been entered as “authors” for this blog.  If  you have never seen or used a blog, the basic terms are simple:

A post is a new piece of writing or sharing, sort of a discussion-starter.

Comments are what people say in response to a post or in response to a previous comment.

You have several ways to write messages and share on the blog, all using comments and posts .

  1. If you see a previous post  and want to say something about it,  you may comment on it by clicking the little “comments” link near the title of the post. To see comments left by others, click the “comments” link or see the links to Recent Comments in the sidebar at the right. Feel free to add another comment to any post or comment chain.
  2. You may want to initiate a post of your own. For example, you may have a question on how to use a feature in the workBench, or how to manage clever(!) behavior by some students in your classroom. Feel free to write your own post and allow others to comment back to you. Just click “Site Admin” in the sidebar, then click “Write” at the top of the page. You will see a page where you can type in your own post, title and all. Be sure to include a TITLE and to SAVE and publish. As the author, you can always edit that post later using the tiny “edit” link next to the title.
  3. You may also wish to simply share what has been happening in your classes. Feel free to LINK to a project you or your students have created (use the Share by URL feature on the workBench), or even embed it in this blog for others to comment. Don’t be afraid to risk “messing up.” Your teacher-colleagues will help you out.
