		<description>While I'm not the boy's teacher, I do appreciate the approach to handling those gifted students who are stifled by the standard, run-of-the-mill selections in the textbook provided. I teach 9th grade English and I have several students who have voracious appetites for reading. What you have suggested may work with my students and may also work for independent reading assignments. I like the idea of having students discuss what they are reading with others, especially adults because it will not only help them with social interaction but it will also help develop their critical thinking skills. Thanks so much for posting this and I hope the boy's teacher really follows through on your suggestion.
