Personalizing instruction doesn't have to be complicated. Using an instructional playlist is a simple way to honor student voice and choice while structuring your students' independent work. This session will help you create playlists that integrate multiple types of activities while using incremental checkpoints. Of all the tools you can put in your blended learning toolkit, the playlist is one you don't want to miss! As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the purpose of instructional playlists; 2. Learn how using playlists can support student voice and choice; and 3. Begin planning an instructional playlist. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Treat students to a bit of entertainment with this online learning resource that provides a comprehensive and interactive approach to teaching compound words to young learners. The website offers engaging and informative videos explaining compound word formation. In addition to the videos, the website also provides a variety of fun and interactive activities, such as quizzes and writing exercises, that help reinforce the material and build vocabulary. The website is designed to be easy to navigate and provides a friendly interface for students and teachers.
In the Classroom
As you watch the video with your class, pause to ask questions. Consider using Binumi, reviewed here, to pause and add your questions automatically. Then take the easy or hard quiz together to assess understanding. Next, your students can apply their knowledge by using the printable writing prompt to write about getting ready for school, then identifying compound words in their writing. The "Word Play" activity is also an engaging way for students to share their knowledge. Students explore compound words further by drawing, writing, and acting them out. Readlee uses speech AI (artificial intelligence) technology to gather and analyze student reading progress. Upload your class roster using Google Classroom or Clever, or upload students individually. Begin by posting a text for students to read online within the Readlee platform. Next, import text by URL, select from Readlee's library, or upload a document; options include posting the full text or a defined portion of the text. Finally, assign the reading to the entire class or specific students. When students complete the assignment, they turn on the microphone, begin reading, and select the button to turn in their recording when finished. Readlee provides data on each project, including the number of words read per minute and more. Be sure to check the pricing page to view all of the features included with free accounts.

In the Classroom
Although Readlee doesn't replace the need to listen to students' reading in person, it provides an excellent tool for gathering data and providing information between those data points. In addition, Readlee provides students with ongoing feedback on their development of reading and fluency skills. Use Readlee as a resource for ENL/ESL students to practice and develop reading and speaking skills. Share feedback from students' reading assignments with parents as you monitor progress together throughout the year. During student/teacher conferences, use the data from Readlee to work with students to develop a plan for strengthening and improving reading skills.

In the Classroom
Google Read Along would be a great addition to any preschool or early elementary classroom. Teachers who work with ENL students or adults learning to read may also find this site helpful. Students will gain confidence by practicing reading independently yet still get assistance if needed, all while the teacher can work with individual students or small groups. Scroll through the page to find and access information about each class. The Table of Contents for each topic provides information and links divided by chapter or module. Select individual courses or complete each course in the order provided. Many topics also include practice activities.

In the Classroom
Bookmark Quillbot as a supplement to your current curricular materials and a resource for students to use for practice and remediation in writing skills. The courses also provide practice and instruction for use with English Language Learners. Share with college-bound students to use in preparation for college-level courses. Include a link to Quillbot's resources on your class webpage for easy access anytime. Consider curating resources for students using Wakelet, reviewed here, for sharing a collection that includes commonly-used lessons. Find and assign individual topics to students or classes to address specific areas that need additional instruction. For example, when students struggle with the proper use of commas, give and discuss any of the activities found on Quillbot that provide instruction and practice. As students make revisions, ask them to share before and after changes in the product of their writing. For example, when working with Google Docs, ask students to submit an original draft and the finished product and reflect upon the changes and revisions made. Regular choice boards allow your students to complete equally active, interesting, and engaging assignments that demonstrate their comprehension of the presented material--but not all students learn at the same pace or have the same background knowledge coming into a lesson. In this session, you'll learn to differentiate your choice boards by process, product, or content to support students as necessary. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn the basics of Tomlinson's differentiation model; 2. Learn to differentiate choice boards for both instructional and assessment purposes; and 3. Use a template to create a differentiated choice board. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
