This tool is ideal for art, geometry, and symmetry lessons, as it allows students to explore rotational symmetry, patterns, and design concepts in a fun and hands-on way. It's ideal for classrooms with limited supplies or those incorporating digital learning activities. To "cut" the paper away, draw polygons (closed shapes) representing scissor cuts over the triangle on the drawing board to the right. Draw a polygon by clicking on the board to create vertices, and close the polygon by clicking on the first vertex. Plix (Play, Learn, Interact, and eXplore) shares over 1,000 interactives, providing practice and exploring math and science concepts. Math topics range from adding whole numbers to calculus concepts; science content includes biology, physics, earth, and life science, among others. Follow the directions found in each interactive to move the slider to show changes in each story problem or question. Plix integrates with several learning management systems, including Google Classroom, Schoology, and Canvas. Share Plix activities by creating a new class on the Plix site or assigning it to your learning management system.

In the Classroom

Use Plix interactives as warm-up activities when teaching new concepts, as a computer center activity, or as an exploration activity for homework. If you are not using a learning management system, use the three dots located on the top bar to find different share options and embed code to use on websites. After providing exploration time, ask students to share their understanding of the content in the using Padlet, reviewed here. This is a link to Padlet's Help section for posting video or an image. Create a topic for students to add a video response that might include a demonstration of their computer screen as they discuss how the interactive works and share their understanding of the concept they explored.

Include a Mobius strip heart activity during your Valentine's Day celebrations, or share the instructions and materials as part of maker-space activities. Extend learning by providing a finished Mobius strip heart, then ask students to problem-solve how to make the heart without any directions. Encourage students to share ideas on everyday uses of Mobius strips, such as conveyor belts, exercise bands, etc. Ask students to record tutorials for creating the Mobius strip heart activity and other Mobius strip creations, then share their tutorials and pictures in a multimedia book presentation created with Book Creator, reviewed here.

Take a worldwide adventure as you learn and practice math concepts. The map defaults to lessons for first grade; use the options on the left side of the main page or in the title section of the map near the starting point to change to other grade levels, beginning with kindergarten through sixth grade. Each lesson includes animated videos that explain math concepts and interactive activities for students that allow students to collect stars. To find exercises on specific content, use the Open list view on the main page to see all available lessons for each grade level, including themes for each assignment and the location on the map where the activity occurs. Lessons are available in English and Spanish. Use the provided link to find additional information and suggestions for using the site for parents and teachers.

Achievery is a free digital learning platform, developed in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery, that provides K-12 students with engaging video clips paired with standards-aligned lesson plans and activities across various subjects, including ELA, SEL, Math, Science, Digital Literacy, Social Studies, Arts, and STEM. To access the content, users must create an account. Teachers and parents can register, and parents have the option to set up sub-accounts for children under 13. Content is searchable and filterable by unit or lesson, grade band, subject, standard, or media type, including an "All Units" section. Most lessons are part of larger learning units but are also fully usable as standalone lessons. Each lesson includes downloadable PDFs, aligned standards (Common Core, CASEL, ISTE, NGSS), vocabulary lists, activity instructions, and linked videos. The platform is available in both English and Spanish. It is an excellent resource for classroom instruction or substitutes, with a sign-in required to access materials.

In the Classroom

Bookmark and save this site as a resource for lessons in many content areas to engage students using popular video clips. Although originally designed for remote learning, all lessons can be easily adapted for in-class instruction. Easily find activities to differentiate instruction for different student ability levels by browsing options below or above the student's current grade level. Many lessons include worksheets in PDF format. Turn these activities into a digital format by taking a screenshot of the document, then save as the background on Google Slides, reviewed here. Add text boxes in the appropriate place on the slide for students to add responses. Use Pear Deck Flashcard Factory, reviewed here, to create flashcards for students to practice the vocabulary highlighted in each lesson.
 This resource requires PDF reader software like Adobe Acrobat.

This mathematics page includes math activities for students of all ages and abilities based on problem-solving activities and riddles integrated into many different topics. Each lesson typically consists of a video that explains the concept or problem-solving strategy, as well as interactive quizzes and other resources to help reinforce the learning. Many tasks also come with additional resources such as lesson plans, discussion questions, and further reading. Use the filters to narrow down options by grade level, type of content, video length, and subtitles options. In addition, each activity includes categories such as Science and Technology or The Arts; use these links to find related activities. Registration isn't required; however, it allows you to save your favorite activities and customize lessons.
